This is the first edition of this book. It's obviously a homegrown book, with a general feel not unlike that of a small neighborhood newsletter, but it DOES cover 40 waterfalls in Northern Georgia, Western North Carolina, and Western South Carolina. It's a very early and primitive foray (bearing in mind that in 1990, there weren't many waterfall guides to be had) that was ultimately bound to improve from edition to edition.
The book has some drawbacks, which is expected in a first edition, particularly when there weren't many waterfall books to offer inspiration or a sense of what works and what doesn't work. The typeset is of minimal quality. The black and white photos are fairly tighly printed, but are small and dark.
The Bottom Line: This book is primarily an early foray into the land of waterfall guidebooks and this is reflected by the quality. I have it, but if you're looking for a Brian Boyd waterfall book, spend your time looking for the third or fourth editions.
