This is essentially a paperback coffee table book. It covers over 40 waterfalls and offers lush color photography. The text, while reasonably well written, doesn't serve much purpose. It's not really dedicated to descriptive narrative, it doesn't offer a great deal of historical information, but rather seems to be meandering prose.
The photographs range from top shelf to merely decent illustrative photographs. Some would definitely have benefited from moving the tripod a few feet to remove an ugly intrusive foreground element from the frame. Some photos are spread across the crease of the book, a pet peeve. There isn't a lot of information regarding location, history, geology, etc. This is because the book isn't designed to be a guidebook. I'll try to forgive this comparative lack of data.
The Bottom Line: This book offers large photographs, but not much else. Personally, I think it's a step backwards from Mr. Doeffinger's Finger Lakes book.
