James Grass and Carla Bowers spent 4 years compiling this book. According to the text on the back, they traveled over 80,000 miles while documenting the falls. It's a voluminous effort to be certain.
This spiral bound book is loaded with information, over 600 waterfalls in 46 states. As waterfall books go, it's an excellent jumping off point. There are some drawbacks to this huge master list. The photos are black and white, of quality roughly equitable with that of a photocopier. There are a great many mistakes scattered throughout the data. Most of the mistakes are height figures, so it's not as though the person using this resource will be taken off course.
The Bottom Line: Realistically, the United States has WAY more than 600 waterfalls. Several thousand might be more like the truth. What this book DOES accomplish is to create a large body of work that would keep a dedicated waterfall enthusiast on the trail for a very, very long time. Don't buy this book for the photos, buy it for the content.
