This fine book is a reworking of Allan Billard's 1997 book, "Waterfalls of Nova Scotia". While the first book was a solid representative of its class, the revision is a dramatic improvement. It details 42 Nova Scotian waterfalls.

The book is not a database put in print per se, but rather a series of individual articles that rely more on text descriptions and lush photographs than a series of facts put into a workable and consistent format. The text is well written and the photographs were obviously executed with skill.

The Bottom Line: This is a quality book. I have tried to the best of my ability to obtain every book we've reviewed. Some are duds. This one is not. The numerous photographs represent the considerable variety of waterfalls Nova Scotia has to offer, allowing you the luxury of arm chair traveling. Even if you don't plan to visit Nova Scotia, this book should be a welcome addition to a waterfall library.
