This book is a homegrown labor of love. I first became aware of Ilse Mwanza after stumbling across a website of Zambian waterfalls. We exchanged correspondence for a period of time as I had many questions about the waterfalls she and her friends had documented, particularly a waterfall that had been nagging me for a long time, namely Chirombo Falls. It was mentioned in the Rashleigh book "Among the Waterfalls of the World" as an 876' waterfall not far from Kalambo Falls that was even more scenic. As it turns out, Ilse not only knew of the waterfall, but one of her friends had photographed it. I'd been seeking a photo of Chirombo Falls for ages. It was knows as Izi Falls or Izimponda Falls now, Chirombo had been out of use for decades.
Ilse sent me a copy of this book. While some of the photos are not of particularly good quality, others are quite good. There is a great deal of variance. What IS impressive about the book is how thorough it is. The book addresses roughly 140 waterfalls. Most of these were waterfalls that I hadn't even suspected.
The Bottom Line: This isn't of much use unless you are planning to hike in Zambia, or you maintain a database of world wide waterfalls (we do!), but if you are curious, it is available on the internet, but it's pricey and hard to find.
