This is a very straightforward book. It has 199 waterfalls, organized by county. Each waterfall is mapped, has a small factbox containing information concerning Location and Directions, and there are photographs scattered throughout the book. There is an accompanying narrative text offering information about the falls. There is also a page of acknowledgments, an introduction, and a preface. After the 199 waterfalls are covered, the book goes straight to the index.
This is a bare bones, albeit very thorough guidebook. Beyond descriptions, black and white photos, and maps, there is nothing else to be found. A full color revision of this book might be well received as Michigan's Upper Peninsula is a popular destination that has a relatively high density of waterfalls.
The Bottom Line: This is a good book to have, but it IS rather spartan. If you explore Michigan, you'll want a copy. If you are an armchair traveler, you won't get much of a thrill.
