Tim Ernst, first and foremost, is a great photographer who just happens to be bitten by the waterfall bug. This means his photographs are first rate. In this edition, that sadly means black and white.
Many of Arkansas' waterfalls are wet weather falls which means that they are flowing in spring. Waterfalls...wildflowers...there could be a connection here worth examining. This book (the first edition) provides detailed and exacting information over 130 Arkansas waterfalls. Good photos, good maps and a ton of data for the data miner. Not half bad...
The Bottom Line: Since the 2nd edition is in color, I'd have to recommend that one over the first edition.
