At the time this book was published, color publications were prohibitively expensive and many publishers weren't willing or fiscally able to absorb the cost. I got this book for Christmas in 2003 and was frankly blown away.
The book is substantial...224 pages. It's printed in full color, on quality paper stock, so the photographs have full visual impact. Oh yeah...the photos...George Fischer is obviously a skilled photographer. His photos are well composed, and well executed. The text is thorough and more than adequately covers the ample material. I know Mark Harris's waterfall database has a great deal more than this book covers, but that's forgivable...Ontario's waterfalls are considerable in number. My data shows roughly 775 waterfalls and this book addresses about 430 waterfalls, 82 of which are covered in detail. To author a complete inventory of Ontario waterfalls would result in a book about the size of a Boston Phone Book.
The Bottom Line: This is one of the best waterfall books available today. I recommend this book highly.
