CONFIRMED
This waterfall has been confirmed by the World Waterfall Database, has been mapped and its height has been approximated but exact measurements have not yet been confirmed.
The waters of the Knivsflåelvane divide into several streamlets and form a wide, seven segmented waterfall that adorns the northern wall of the Geiranger fjord.

HISTORY AND NAMES

  • Also Known as: Knivsflåfossen, Sju Systre, Seven Sisters
  • Sju Søstre is the Unofficial name of this waterfall

The falls were named in that there are usually seven segments to the falls, however, the smaller volume ones may dry out late in the summer. The falls are named for the nearby farm (Knivsflå,) an historical site. Farming a small patch of land over a thousand feet above the surface of the fjord is a neat feat. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a farm with a better view.

Our thoughts

The Seven Sisters Waterfall, as it's popularly known, is one of the most famous in Norway. It's one of the most photographed waterfalls in the country.
