Pyramid Creek Falls is one of the most prominent waterfalls in the North Thompson area. Pyramid Creek crashes over three stairstep-style tiers before hitting a layer of bedrock which was thrust sideways that causes the water to fan out into somewhat of a pyramid shape. It is likely that the shape of the falls spurred the naming of the creek. The falls are surrounded by a small Provincial Park designed to preserve the area but unfortunately no developed access exists. Because of this, only the top half of the falls can be seen from the Yellowhead Highway. However, if you buy yourself a ticket on the Rocky Mountain Rail Tours, which operates between Vancouver and Jasper, Alberta, the train passes right next to the falls on the other side of the valley. Photography tips
A strong telephoto lens is necessary to frame the falls well from the highway across the valley. The falls face west and will see direct sunlight in the afternoon hours.
