This waterfall has been confirmed by the World Waterfall Database, has been mapped and its height has been approximated but exact measurements have not yet been confirmed.
Kawai Nui Stream drops down a series of five waterfalls on its way to the Pacific Ocean. The first and tallest is well over a thousand feet in height. As an added bonus, an unnamed side stream drops over an even taller waterfall, joining Kawai Nui Stream at the base of the first drop.

Our thoughts

Papalaua Falls is often cited as being 1201 feet tall, however, the topographic maps clearly indicate a drop of slightly over 500m. Photos of this waterfall are often mistakenly displayed as nearby Kahiwa Falls, but Kahiwa Falls is one valley to the west. Even National Geographic Magazine has this waterfall incorrectly captioned as Kahiwa Falls.

Papalaua Falls is shown in the center. The 10 closest waterfalls within a 8km radius are shown as well (if any). Click any icon or see the list below for more information.
