This waterfall has been confirmed by the World Waterfall Database, has been mapped and its height has been approximated but exact measurements have not yet been confirmed.

Our thoughts

Lofoi Falls is one of the larger waterfalls, both in volume and height, in central Africa. The falls are commonly claimed to be 1,115 feet tall. We had thought this to be a relatively accurate figure, but thanks to recent photos submitted by Thilo Kaiser, we're very skeptical of that figure. Both our interpretations of the photographs we were sent, and the elevation profiles we have access to point to the falls being in the vicinity of 540 feet tall. The one possibly explanation for this discrepancy, we feel, is the height is a derivation of a 'Meters of Head' reading by hydroelectric surveyors. Still, in spite of being half as tall as we had suspected, the falls remain on our Top 100 list.

Lofoi, Chutes is shown in the center. Additional nearby waterfalls (if any) can be found in the list below.
