This is one of several large, widely unknown waterfalls in the inner valleys of British Columbia's fjords. This has a sheer vertical drop of about 520 meters, as well as a significant amount of talus cascades below the falls, and possibly a second tier above the top of the main drop. The falls are said to flow year round from sources who have been to the falls. This is quite astonishing to us due to the incredibly small drainage area of this stream and the only explination would be there is an unmapped snowfield or glacier feeding the falls. Regardless, the only access to the falls is either from the air, or via a boat ride into Kingcome Inlet, then a long drive up the valley on logging roads. We may end up changing the name of the falls if we can find a more suitable moniker. Big thanks to Drew Brayshaw for use of the picture. |
